Your Questions Answered

How Long Will It Take To Get My Keepsake
I always aim to have your keepsake ready and returned to you within 6 weeks of receiving your items of clothing or fabric. If a specific date is required however, please make sure you get in touch. I will always do my best to accommodate requests.
When do I pay?
Your payment (including postage) is required upon ordering your keepsake. You may order via the website, and pay securely using your credit / debit card (via Paypal) or using your existing PayPal account.
Can I have a refund?
Should you change your mind after purchasing and posting your items to me, please let me know within 14 days. As set out in distance selling regulations, I will issue a full refund, excluding postage costs. However, once I have started work on your keepsake, no refunds can be given because work has already started on your item.  If there is something specific that you would like to see on your keepsake – something unique, personal or specific in any way, it is important to let me know. I want you to be the happiest you can be with your Sew Precious keepsake. Please contact me if you have a further question or need clarification.
How should I send my items to you?
I would always recommend sending them via recorded delivery Royal Mail.  Be sure to include your name and return address in the parcel to avoid any confusion.  If you live locally to me, dropping them off is always an option.
What condition do the clothes need to be in?
All the clothes need to be washed, ironing isn’t necessary as I do this in the making process. Don’t worry if some of the items are quite worn, that’s the idea! Clothing that holds lots of memories is bound to be a little bit bobbly or threadbare…
Can I wash my keepsake?
Cushions – these can be hand washed once the inner has been removed.  Iron lightly once dried flat taking care over motifs and appliques as you would normally.

Blankets – these can be hand washed and lightly ironed on the reverse once dried flat.

Cushions and blankets are designed for display purposes.  To get the best from them keep washing to a minimum and keep out of direct sunlight.

Animals – these cannot be washed.  Light sponging if a stain does occur, however these are keepsakes and not intended for everyday use, so they shouldn’t get too grubby.  Hoover lightly to remove dust and keep out of direct sunlight.

Will any unused fabric be returned to me?
If any items are unused I will return these with your keepsake.  I don’t send back items that have been cut to keep postage costs to a minimum. If you would like them returning, this can be arranged at an additional cost.
Are the keepsakes safe for children?
Although all items are made to the highest quality, it is impossible for the items to be CE tested as I am using your clothing. The keepsakes are not toys, and therefore shouldn’t be given to children under 14 years old.  All items are hand made and cannot withstand continuous rough handling or play.
What colours are available for the back of my blanket?
Any colour can be used for the back of the blanket, always in stock are pink, blue and beige.  If other colours are required these can be requested on ordering.
Are there any fabrics that aren't suitable to send?
The only fabrics that I say are not suitable to use are very chunky knitwear and delicate/hand made knitwear.  Shoes cannot be used.  Smaller items like bibs, socks and fabric head bands can sometimes be incorporated, but it really depends on the item being ordered. Please contact me for further information / questions.
Who will be involoved in making my keepsake?
Only me! I don’t outsource any of my orders.  All the cutting, lining, ironing and stitching is done by me, I’m a one girl band!

What other materials do you use to make my keepsake?
All of the cushions, blankets and animals are fully lined with the highest quality Vilene and stitched with only Gutterman thread.  Blankets are padded with a lovely soft, fusible fleece and are backed with plain 100% cotton.  All the stuffing for the animals and the cushion pads complies to British safety standards for fibre fillings BS5852 source 2.  A soft hollowfibre is used to stuff the animals, they are stuffed quite tightly to give a lovely finish.  I always try my best to use buttons off your clothing for eyes and detailing, if there aren’t any I will use a plain button that compliments in colour.
